At Winterton Primary School and Nursery we are working in partnership with Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Children’s Services to identify and provide appropriate support to pupils who have experienced domestic violence in their household; this scheme is called Operation Encompass. In order to achieve this, Norfolk Children’s Advice and Duty Service will share police information of all domestic incidents where one of our pupils has been present with the Designated Safeguarding Lead(s). On receipt of any information, the Designated Safeguarding Lead will decide on the appropriate support the child requires, this could be silent or overt. All information sharing and resulting actions will be undertaken in accordance with the ‘Norfolk Joint Agency Protocol for Domestic Abuse – Notifications to Schools’. We will record this information and store this information in accordance with the record keeping procedures outlined in this policy.

CMAT Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy – April 2019 (1)

Safeguarding at Winterton Primary School and Nursery Class display poster January 2020

In the past few weeks we have received advice from the Welfare, Inclusion, Safeguarding & Attendance Officer from CMAT. He is providing us with support to update our current systems to ensure they are efficient and also delivering up to date training for staff. This newsletter is a perfect opportunity to notify you of our Safeguarding statement.

At Winterton Primary School the health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concern. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. Our aim is that children will enjoy their time as pupils at this school and therefore make the best progress possible. We work in partnership with you to ensure your child has high aspirations, success and make a positive contribution to society.

The procedures we follow have been laid down by the Norfolk Safeguarding Children Board and the school has adopted the CMAT Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy in line with this for the safety of all. If you would like to know more about our procedures or policy, please come and speak to us.
