Thank you! | | Winterton Primary School is situated in the heart of the seaside village of Winterton-on-Sea, just north of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. It serves the villages of both Winterton and nearby Somerton. Children living in Somerton are entitled to school transport. There are also some children from other neighbouring villages whose parents have made the choice to send their children to a small primary school where the ethos is based on community, care and developing every child using the knowledge and experience of the supportive staff team. We see the school community as a big family where every individual is given the opportunities to learn and develop according to their own needs and interests.
This is our first year as a primary school with the full age range, as we now have children in all year groups, from Nursery to Year 6. Children are taught in mixed-age classes of two year groups with a high adult:pupil ratio giving all the children a chance to develop to their full potential in all areas.
In order to facilitate the change from first to primary school in 2007, the Local Authority extended and improved the existing buildings. The school now boasts a brand new and much larger hall with a servery and a new classroom. There has been considerable re-modelling of the existing building to provide a much larger library, additional toilets, new staffroom, headteacher’s office and a group work room. There is also a room designated as a Children’s Centre outreach room.
Now that the school's building programme has been completed, we have turned our attention to the outside learning environment and we have already made extensive improvements in this area. Some of them can be seen if you enter our website.
We are all very proud of our school and our children.
